PS3 3.55 jailbreak with backup support simple tutorial with pictures.

Disclaimer: If you have an old fat version of the PS3 research about success of your specific model otherwise if you have a slim your good to go but it still wouldn't hurt to search about it beforehand. Also make sure your PS3 is at 3.55 by going to settings>system>system information!

1.Download this.
2.Put all the files inside onto onto your flash drive.

3.Connect flash drive to PS3.

4.Go to settings and then system update.
5.Choose storage media and then go through it.

6.When finished go to game and then install package files and click triangle and choose install all packages.
Your done!!

Now to run a backup up simply run the Lv2 app everytime you turn on the PS3 and then go to multiman(make sure any game disc is inside it doesn't matter as long as it is a game). Then from there you select your game and then press no which will cause you to go back to the system menu. Then where the game which is inside the PS3 should be will be the game you selected.Play and enjoy!!

Lv2 app should look like this if your PS3 freezes hard reset and try again.

Multiman should look something like this.

This is what you press no too.

Before using Lv2 and multiman to load Black Ops.

After.

All I ask of you in return for making this guide is to spread the word and follow my blog!!
I take no responsibilty for anything that happens.
Props to the guys that made the apps that are shown.

Wow 10 billion in a blink of an eye have to give props to Apple for that.

In 3 years since it launched its grown so much (wipes tears from eyes) and i got to experience it lol. xD
Picture belongs to Apple i own no rights to it.

Finally a CFW for the PS3 with backup support! DO AT OWN RISK!!

Waninkoko won’t have you waiting any longer… The infamous hacker in black dishes a full serving of PS3 custom (or modified) firmware; and by full serving I mean all your homebrew, including support for Backup Manager! That’s what you’ve been asking for, right?
How to install PS3 Custom Firmware v3.55
  1. Download PS3 Firmware Update (OFW) 3.55
  2. Install (or restore) OFW 3.55
  3. Patch the OFW 3.55 PS3UPDAT.PUP using “bsdiff” / “bspatch”
    bspatch PS3UPDAT.PUP PS3UPDAT-CFW.PUP CFW_v3.55.patch
  4. Confirm the resulting PUP has the md5 sum of 6eab7f1deea1ed46a1dc9924fd7080b3
  5. Rename and copy the patched PUP to a USB storage device: /PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
  6. Flash it from Settings -> System Update (or the Recovery Menu if you need to)
Tools will be available on github soon. See README.txt for more info.
Update: Uh oh… Waninkoko speaks up: “Do NOT install in Slim consoles! Looks like users are reporting bricking issues. That’s weird as the CFW was tested on both models.”
I’m testing it now. Please standby.
Update: Well, on my Slim the installation went a-okay! That said I’ve uploaded the patched PUP for you. And I can also confirm that multiMAN, as a Backup Manager, works with no problem. I should mention I updated from geohot’s jailbreak; I already had multiMAN installed under that (for those wondering why it won’t install under Waninkoko’s CFW).
Update: There have been many brick reports… Some fat models, some slim… Many variables come into play when patching LV2. So right now, it’s like this: If you really, really want backups, then give it a shot, just know the risks involved — you could end up with nothing in the end. Otherwise I recommend you buy your games and jailbreak only for homebrew purposes.
Update: As the reports file in, it would seem older “Fat” (launch?) models are more prone to bricking. If you have one of those, I reckon you not try this at all. Slim owners — this doesn’t mean you’re in the clear either. While mine worked, your luck may differ.
DISCLAIMER: READ THE POST AND ALL UPDATES FIRST. INSTALL/FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR BELOVED PS3 CONSOLE. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

How to downgrade your PS3 from 3.55 to 3.41!!

  1. Download this (modified PUP + Lv2diag files)
  2. Get your Factory/Service Mode (downgrade) device ready
  3. Get your USB storage device ready (FAT32 formatted)
  4. Power down your PS3 console (toggle power switch on rear or unplug from wall)
  5. Copy FILE1/Lv2diag.self (from Lv2diag_355.zip) to the root of your USB storage device
  6. Copy PS3UPDAT.PUP (from Downgrade_355.rar) to the root of your USB storage device
  7. Insert your downgrade device into the PS3 USB port nearest the Blu-ray drive
  8. Reconnect the main PS3 power source and turn on your PS3
  9. Your PS3 should boot into Factory/Service Mode
  10. If you decide to chicken out, get out of Factory/Service Mode by using FILE2/Lv2diag.self — Copy that to your USB storage device, overwriting the other, and power on your PS3 with it connected. Otherwise proceed to the next step
  11. Power down the PS3 using the controller
  12. Remove your downgrade device and insert your USB storage device
  13. Power on your PS3 and the downgrade should start
  14. Your PS3 will automatically turn off upon success
  15. Restart your PS3 and you should be back in Factory/Service Mode
You’re now at “3.41(3.56).” From this point it is recommended you downgrade to 3.15 using the method here. Read and follow along carefully. Then upgrade back to the real, official 3.41 using Sony’s OFW update found here. Now jailbreak it.
Here you can find versions of PSGrade for various devices. You aren’t limited to the E3 Card Reader (used in the later tutorial).
